Caring for your Jewellery

Gold and Platinum

Every Era Design stamped jewellery item is automatically eligible for free cleaning and polishing. It's part of our warranty, just bring it in — no need for proof of purchase. We recommend dropping by for a clean and polish at least once per year. During this appointment, we can also check the stones in your ring to make sure everything is tight and secure!

Sterling Silver

Tarnishing

A natural quality of silver is the process of oxidization, which translates into a tarnished look. Wearing your silver jewellery more often slows down this natural process and keeps your silver jewellery looking shiny for a longer period of time.

To keep your silver looking gorgeous, store each piece of jewellery individually in small plastic bags or soft pouches. Your jewellery will be protected from any scratching that might occur. Some jewellery bags have a special anti-tarnish lining, which will also keep your silver from tarnishing!

Buff to a Shine

The best way to clean silver is by using a special polishing cloth made for jewellery. These cloths are infused with a special polishing compound that is effective for removing any tarnish spots, oils, dirt and dust from all precious metals.

Liquid Silver Cleaners

Liquid silver cleaners seem to get the job done the first few times you dip your jewellery into such a solution. However, it's not recommended to use these “dip” cleaners on your fine jewellery. Over time your silver may change in color and any gems that may be set in the pieces can sustain damage caused by the chemicals in the “dip” solution. It is also advisable to never clean your jewellery with toothpaste and a toothbrush, as this will cause noticeable scratches on your silver.
